Road Trip Games

1. 20 Questions: Guess a person/place/thing with yes/no questions.

Rules: One player thinks of something. Others get up to 20 yes/no questions. First correct guess wins and becomes the next chooser.

2. I Spy: Find objects everyone can see.

Rules: Caller says "I spy… something [color/shape/first letter]." First correct guess is next caller. No repeating the same object twice.

3. Two Truths and a Lie: Bluff with "facts" about yourself.

Rules: Say 3 statements: 2 true, 1 false. Everyone guesses the lie. 1 point for correct guess; speaker gets 1 point if they fool someone.

4. Would You Rather: Quick dilemmas, funny or serious.

Rules: Go in a circle. Everyone must choose one option (no "both"). Optional: 1-sentence explanation only.

5. Story Chain: Build a shared story.

Rules: First person starts with one sentence. Each person adds exactly one sentence. Add a "forbidden word" that can't be used (if someone says it, they lose a point).

6. Categories: Race to name things in a category.

Rules: Pick a category (animals, foods, movies, etc.). Go around naming one item each. No repeats, no pauses longer than 3 seconds. If you stall or repeat, you're out for that round.

7. Fortunately / Unfortunately: Cooperative chaos story.

Rules: First person says one sentence starting with "Fortunately…" Next must begin "Unfortunately…" Alternate all the way around.

8. The Name Game (Alphabet Chain): Chain words by starting letter.

Rules: Choose a theme (cities, animals, celebrities). Player 1 says one (e.g., "Dallas"). Next must start with the last letter ("Seattle"). No repeats. If you can't in 5 seconds, you're out.

9. Celebrity / Character Guess (Forehead Game): Guess what you are by questions.

Rules: The caller tells everyone except the guesser of a well-known person/character. Guesser asks yes/no questions until they get it.

10. Mini-Debates: Argue ridiculous positions.

Rules: Pick a silly prompt ("Is cereal soup?" "Best superpower for a road trip?"). Two players take opposite sides for 60 seconds each; everyone else votes the winner. Rotate.

11. Song Association: Link songs by a word or theme.

Rules: First player says a song title. Next must name a different song that shares a word/theme/vibe they explain in one short phrase. No repeats; 5-second limit.

12. Guess the Movie From Bad Summary: Describe a movie terribly; others guess.

Rules: One player gives a vague/funny summary without using character names or the title. First correct guess wins; winner summarizes next.

13. Yes/No (aka "Don't Say It"): Trick people into saying "yes" or "no."

Rules: Pick a time window (5–10 minutes). If you say "yes" or "no," you get 1 strike. 3 strikes and you lose. (Variations: also ban "yeah/nope.")

14. Contact Chain: Name someone in your contacts; next player must name a different person who could plausibly know them.

Rules: No phone needed—just memory. Each link must be explained in one sentence ("They worked together at…"). If you can't justify the connection in 5 seconds, you're out for the round.

15. One-Word Impressions: Do an impression using only one repeated word.

Rules: Pick a character/celebrity/animal. You can only say one word (e.g., "broccoli") with different tones. Others guess in 30 seconds. Correct guesser goes next.

16. Cow Graveyard: Count cows on your side of the road.

Rules: Each player/team claims a side (left/right). Score 1 point per cow you spot on your side. If you pass a cemetery/graveyard on your side, your score resets to 0 (optional: also reset for churches). Play to a target score (like 50) or highest score by arrival.
